The Roxburghe Experience
Golf, Fishing, Clay Pigeon Shooting... and not forgetting Croquet!
The Duke of Roxburghe, an avid golfer, commissioned Dave Thomas (international golfer and designer of The Belfry - home to three Ryder Cups) to design this championship course.
The result of Thomas's design bears his hallmark of deep challenging bunkers and large rolling greens.
The wide fairways follow the natural contours of the land, making full use of the various changes in elevations.
The signature "Viaduct" hole is an elevated tee commanding views of the River Teviot that hugs the left of the fairway with an imposing viaduct in the background. The 7111-yard, par 72 course is regarded as one of the top five inland courses in Scotland. The course record, of 66, is currently held by one Sergio Garcia.
"With immaculately presented greens and fairways, the reputation of this course is set to grow and grow.”
Sam Torrance named The Roxburghe Golf Course as the best ‘Hidden Gem’ golf course in Scotland.
Besides golf, The Roxburghe can offer a wide selection of estate sports and activities that will turn even the most ardent city slicker into a country gent.
The hotel is situated on a working country estate, which provides guests with a wealth of activities to choose from, such as clay pigeon shooting, archery, falconry, mountain biking, and the shooting of pheasant, partridge and grouse.
For the fishing enthusiast, The Roxburghe is regarded as one of the finest fishing hotels in the country.
